  1. Hi SV,

For starters, I think that your storybook looks absolutely AMAZING! The layout is very clear and easy to navigate and the picture for the Introduction is breathtaking! Everything looks great so far :)

After reading your introduction, I am very eager to start reading your stories whenever they get published! You are an amazing writer with a nice flow. You really know how to capture your readers!

I am not going to lie, when I read Avatar in the title and saw the picture for the introduction, I thought it was going to be about the blue Avatars, not the Nickelodeon cartoon. But, I think that this is going to be just as good, if not better, than what I expected! Again, your writing is just so captivating. I am really looking forward to your stories and reading about the lost adventures/tales of the Avatar, Aang!

    1. Hello SV, I think your story book layout is off to a great start. I really enjoy the layout and designs you have going and think that the picture you have used on the header is beautiful and a place I would like to visit oneday. I did not have any prior knowledge about the Avatar or that there was even an avatar cycle. Avatar Aang sounds like he is going to be an intriguing character that keeps the reader engaged from start to finish. The travels you talk about in the introduction sound exciting. Are you going to be doing a different page for each seperate place he goes? I am super interested to come back and read your story book once it has been completed. I think you are doing a great job and going to have an awesome page when it is all completed.

  2. Hey, SV!

I know others have mentioned it, but I really, really enjoyed the design of your blog! I noticed it before I actually read the title of your blog, and it fits really well with your theme and introduction! I also think you did an amazing job on the introduction. The detail you included in describing the story to someone who has potentially not been exposed to Avatar was really keen, with great attention to the small details. I can tell that when you begin to write and add more stories to your blog that they will also follow this pattern of detail, and I really look forward to it. I also really enjoyed your syntax, which went hand-in-hand with your descriptors throughout your introduction. Really good job! I think you have inspired my to write with a lot more detail and include a lot more original content in my own pieces. So, thanks!

  3. Hi there SV!
You have such a nicely designed layout for this story. It is clean and serene to start out with and makes your posts very easy to read. I am excited for this and to see how you develop your own version of Aang. As a person who recently binged the series again I am super excited to keep up with your blog and see exactly where you take it. I do wonder, are you going to make it more of a solo journey through the cycle or will you be introducing some of the characters from the show into your own adaptation? I wonder if maybe each page that you do is a new character he encounters or each page is the mastery of a new element using East Asian stories. I think that you have all the nations at your fingertips right now and I am excited to come back to your blog!

    1. Hello SV!
I am back to read your next story! Already you have good background knowdlge of Wan Shi Tong and helps to set the stage for the reader and why the spirit is the way he is. I think that you could add in how exactly Aang found the library or ease into it because the introductions of Aang and Wan Shi Tongs seem to start abruptly. You did very good at capturing the childlike manner and newness of being the Avatar in Aang with how he presents himself and his dialogue. I found one small bit where Aang says "we" when talking to Wan Shi Tong about the Fire Nation and I was not sure if that was intentional as you may introduce other characters that Aang is in cahoots with or if "we" was the rest of the world. If Aang is alone in this fight at that moment it may be less confusing to say "I" instead. Overall very well written and I am excited for the next "episode" and who you highlight there!

  4. Hey SV! Let me just start with saying I nerded out a bit when I saw that your story book was based on Avatar the Last Airbender... I loved that show growing up!! The picture you used in the home screen definitely brought back memories and feelings of nostalgia. The website is very easy to navigate and user-friendly. Reading your introduction, I am really excited to read your stories following Aang. I wonder are you going to introduce all the main characters from the show? Or only some of them? (Please include an Uncle Iroh haha). I noticed your use of detail in your introduction, and I hope you carry that same level over into your stories. I also wonder how you are going to set up your stories. Do you think you will do like a fire, water, air chapters like in the show? Great job so far, I can't wait to see where this goes!

  5. Hi SV! I love the avatar the last airbender and I think that you have an amazing storyboard and I am very excited to see where you take this. I like that you talked a lot about the mythical animals that appeared in the shows and comics because that was always one of my favorite parts about watching the show. I think that look at the mythology from the show and looking at the myths that they were derived from might even increase the appreciation of the show. I really can't wait to see where this story goes and I will defiantly come back to see where you take it. It has been really cool to see the reception that ATLA has had since coming back out on netflix as well as seeing that more people have been able to see Kora again or for the first time. I think that you did an excellent job and I am very excited to see where you take this.

  6. Hello, I really appreciated your detailed introduction. I really enjoyed how you explained the background information of the Avatar culture so that when people read the stories they have a better understanding. The cliff hanger was also very intriguing and makes me want to read more! I really enjoyed your story and felt as if it was part of the actual show. I have not watched the whole show through but know enough about it and I would believe that this actually happened in the show. Although, I have no idea what the original story was and how the two stories relate. A suggestion I would make is to just include a brief summary of the original story in the author’s note. This will give me an idea of how you have really made this into your own. Overall, very good job!

  7. Hi there!
I like the design of your storybook webpage; the colors are simple and muted and highlights the images you’ve chosen. The banner image on the introduction page looks like an incredible place. The introduction is short and easy to understand. I appreciate that you provide some context about Avatars and the Avatar cycle. This would be helpful for people who have not seen the show, too. The last sentence in the introduction is a great cliffhanger, for sure. Are the stories in your storybook a continuation of each event or are they separate stories regarding Aang’s travels as he tries to preserve peace and balance? The story of “Wan Shi Tong’s Library” is written very well; there’s a good balance of descriptive narration and dialogue. I like how you highlighted Wan Shi Tong as a main character and gave some background information on him. Will the rest of your stories of Aang’s encounters follow the same approach? I’m interested in reading the rest of your storybook; great work!

  8. Hi SV!

I love Avatar: The Last Airbender! I completely binge-watched the entire series over quarantine and moved into my new apartment just in time for Korra to be on Netflix! I love that you are weaving tales that are true to Japanese mythology throughout the story. I think that adds an extra layer to the show as well because this could possibly be where some of these stories emerged. I think the author's note helps fill people in because if I had not seen the show I would probably be very confused. With that being said, there are not a lot of variations from the storyline. I would love to see more detail of the myths weaved throughout the story line. I think it would be beneficial to go into detail on the koi fish and why they are important to the mythological story and maybe even Japanese culture!

  9. Hi SV,
I have never been a big Avatar fan or am really familiar with it at all. This being said I really appreciated the background included in your introduction. I read through your stories and really enjoyed them. The detail you included was amazing as well as the big cliff hangers. One suggestion I would make for you is to maybe include a little background so readers like myself do not wonder what is going on. Overall your website design is very nice and overall I think your project looks good. Hope the suggestions help on your way to completing this project.

  10. Hey SV,
I love Avatar so I thought the theme of your project was super cool! Your introduction does a great job of explaining what the avatar is for anyone who does not know. It was neat that you explained some of the inspirations behind avatar. Lastly, your introduction does a great job of showing a reader what they should expect find throughout the rest of the project. I really liked the story of Wan Shi Tong's library. I especially liked the dialogue between Aang and the owl. You depicted Aang's personality brilliantly! It was almost as though I was watching the show again. I would be terrified to converse with that owl though. I would especially be scared as Aang, knowing that the owl would not approve of his reasons for being in the library. It would be hard to talk to him without feeling as though he was reading my mind...The face stealer was one of the scariest characters from Avatar, in my opinion. It was cool to see that you included it in your project! Keep up the great work!

    1. Hey SV! I am back to read more about your project. I think that yours has easily been one of my favorites. In fact, it probably IS my favorite! I think you do a great job of writing out complete tales and capturing your characters. Last time, as I read through your project, I remember feeling as though I was almost watching the show again. So I had to come back and check out how it has been going! I liked being able to go back and reread some of the stories I rushed through last time, particularly Koh the Face Stealer. I thought that this character was one of the most intense from the show--you normally do not hear about a character stealing faces in a kid's show. I was surprised that Avatar Kuruk would attempt to murder Koh--that does not seem like an avatar-like thing to do. I was impressed Aang was able to figure out the riddle so quick...I don't think I would be in the right state of mind in that setting to think properly. Great job working on your stories!

  11. Hi SV!
Avatar the last airbender is my all time favorite cartoon. I can't tell you how many times I've watched the whole show. It's to the point where I can repeat lines words for word. And of course, I know the introduction word for word too. I love that your storybook is based off of the show. I would've loved to see you change up some things or add some background to things we that didn't happen in the show. Both of the stories are pretty exactly the same from the original episodes. It would be nice to try to add some new details from the stories you are trying to write from to connect them better. I do think that you did a good job explaining the background of the stories in your author's note though. I feel like you explained it well so that those who never watched the show would understand. Other than that I enjoyed being able to read the stories in written form rather than watching. It's very well-written. Good job and good luck with the rest of your storybook!

  12. Hi SV!
I was excited to read through your storybook! I'm somewhat familiar with Avatar so to see it used as the basis for a stories is really exciting. Your introduction told me what to expect and pulled me into the book. I don't think I've seen the anything with the face stealer and now I don't know if I really want to seek those episodes out or if I'm okay knowing they exist and sound really creepy! I really appreciate your author's notes and the detail you give there - I feel like someone who has no familiarity with the show can read the stories and with the help of the author's note know exactly where all the references come in. I look forward to seeing what else you have in store!

  13. Hi SV!
First of all I love the look fo your page. The cover page is really nice and the picture you used goes really well with the theme or your story and the colors all go well together. I also love the picture on your introduction page. I think it is a very beautiful photo. Also think your introduction is written very well. I found it very easy to understand what your stories were going to be about so that was great. I think its very cool how the story talks a lot about the four elements. The first story is also very good. I liked how you talk about the characteristics of the man and how he is very old and wise, I think it brings a new aspect into the story and gives the audience a really good view of who he is. I also think its cool how the avatar is included into the stories but they also have different people.

  14. Hi SV!
First off I was super stinking excited to read your storybook because I grew a huge fan of Avatar and watched all the cartoon episodes! I’m very happy to report that you didn’t disappoint! I won’t lie, I really loved the character of Wan Shi Tong. Wan Shi Tong was so honest and truthful. I think it’s super important to be this truthful in any kind of situation, so I liked that that was something he valued as well. I loved that the whole first story felt very much like the dialogue in the tv series. I feel like Aang is always having to grow and learn new things because of his age. I liked the second story a lot because the detail was written so well! I was able to picture perfectly what was happening, and I pictured some things from the actual Avatar movie as well since there is a very similar scene in it! Great job SV!

  15. Hey SV! I LOVE Avatar. This storybook is so clever! I remember the spirit-guarded cave. I liked your explanation of the story in the author's note. I personally remember slightly remember this episode. It has been awhile. I liked how you caught us all up with the information that you related to Avatar. I also really this it is cool that your story had a hidden meaning, and you were able to depict that clearly in your author's note. The second story is very interesting as well because there are a lot of more familiar elements that I remembered from Avatar. Overall, your author's notes are very descriptive which is super helpful for someone who is less familiar with these stories as well as Avatar. It is also very concise which makes it easy to read. It's crazy how many parallels there are. Great stories! I can't wait to read more of your stories.

  16. Hi SV!
I am always so excited to come back to your blog to see any updates. I think that you have done very well in making this series your own while also still keeping pertinent information from the true series itself. You always provide enough background information that helps set the scene for people who may not have watched or read the series in a while. You have good author's notes that accurately describe what you have changed or what is going on and why you have decided to make the creative decisions that you have made. I always find your layouts to be very calming and the make your stories easy to read and not overwhelming to look at. Overall, you have done very well and I get so excited when I see you have a new story added and I cannot wait to see what you do with your next story.

  17. Hi SV.
I came here from the Indian Epics class. I chose your project when I saw the title.
I was so excited to read this because I love Avatar the Last Airbender. What a great show. I really like how your introduction is designed. The centered text along with the spacing make it look cool and very avatar-esque. I found the similarities between the Spirit-Guarded Cave and the Library episode so fascinating. You combined the two very skillfully, and I thought your author's note was great. Not only did your author's note provide further explanation for the story but I enjoyed hearing about your point of view and your younger self's view of the owl. You also share an important lesson about being objective, unprejudiced and open-minded in life.
The Koh the Face Stealer story is super cool too. I am excited to learn about all of these connections and origins of the Avatar tales. Once again, your author's note was helpful in elaborating on the background and the details of how the two stories connected and what changes you needed to make. I very much enjoyed reading this project of yours and I am so glad you chose to do it like this!
    Good luck with finals!

  18. Hi SV! I was so excited to read your stories! I just started watching "Avatar the Last Airbender" on Netflix so when I saw the title of your project I knew I had to read your stories! I like that you included a brief introduction in case someone does not know anything about Avatar and has not seen the show. I really enjoyed how you structured your stories, the use of paragraphs and page breaks made the stories flow really nicely! I think you did a great job with your storybook project and would love to read more if you decide to continue writing the stories for fun!
